Scopus is Elsevier’s abstract and citations for academic journal articles. It covers over 25,100 titles more than 5,000 international publishers, which over 23,452 are peer-reviewed journals in the scientific, technical, medical, social sciences, and arts and humanities. It is owned by Elsevier. In addition, there are over 43.7 million patent records from five patent offices:

Web of Science CoreTM Collection: ESCI (WoS) as a new index in the Web of Science Core Collection, Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) covers journals that publish peer-reviewed articles acknowledged for their significance to the regional academic community, which welcomes high-quality research publications to boost its presence as an emerging scientific voice keen on making relevant contribution towards the continued development of the region. The ESCI, because of its vast coverage across the sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities, provides access to premier international and regional journals. Journals selected for inclusion in the index are known for their meticulous editorial review, timely publishing, global outlook, and scholarly impact.

The Open Science Directory has been developed by EBSCO and the Hasselt University Library based upon a request by marine information management experts collaborating within the framework of the IOC™s (Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO) IODE (International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange) programme.

ASEAN Citation Index (ACI) is a central regional database which was designed and set up to index all the bibliographic records and the citations of all quality ASEAN research outputs appeared in the ASEAN scholarly journals. The member countries of the ACI are Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Phillippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Microsoft Academic is a free public web search engine for academic publications and literature, developed by Microsoft Research. Re-launched in 2016, the tool features an entirely new data structure and search engine using semantic search technologies.

Google Scholar is a freely accessible web search engine that indexes the full text of scholary literature across and array of publishing formats and disciplines. The Google Scholar index includes most peer-reviewed online journals of Europe and America™s largest scholarly publishers, plus scholarly books and other non-peer reviewed online journals. It is similar in function to the CiteSeerx. It is also similar to the subscription-based tools, Elsiever’s Scopus and ISI’s web of Science.

MyCite provides access to bibliographic and citation information from scholarly literature published in Malaysian journals, conference proceedings, chapters in books and theses in the sciences, technology, medicine, social sciences, and the Humanities.
